Proactive works well, but is only recommended if you have severe acne!! the active ingredient in proactive is benzoyl peroxide which was developed as an acne treatment in the 20s. When in comes in contact with the skin it becomes a mild acid and breaks down the top layer of your skin (not your edidmermis, just the very top, top) anyways, the reason it works so well is because you skin is constantly breaking down and repairing itself!

I used it for six years and it worked well in the beginning but then I found my skin was even more oily then when i started using it! an esthitician told me that its very harsh and had damaged and deepened my pores. It was drying out my skin so much that my skin had begun over producing oil just to keep up.

Skin Care for Fall – Its Time To Get Ready!

September marks the beginning of the fall season.. The changing weather demands a change in your skin care regimen as well. No matter what your skin type is, it does react to the changing weather conditions.

Here are some tips to help you be prepared for the fall season. With an effective skin care regimen you can protect your skin, restore its radiance and keep it healthy!

Use Creamier Skin Care Products

Whether you have dry skin, oily skin or combination skin, it is advisable to switch to a milder cleanser or face wash during fall. This will help to reduce the moisture loss. Avoid using soap or foaming cleansers as they tend to strip off the essential lipids in the skin. These products are best reserved for summers when the skin tends to be more oily. Cooler temperatures are accompanied by low humidity which robs the skin of its intrinsic moisture. Use a non water-based cleanser to wash your face during the fall season like Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser. Also women with dry skin should consider using a rich moisturizing cream instead of the regular lotion to increase the hydration levels. Try using La Roche-Posay Anthelios SX, a double duty moisturizer + sunscreen. If you have oily skin, apply moisturizer only on the dry areas of your face like cheeks and avoid the T-zone completely.

Switch to a Milder Exfoliant

Because of all the heat and humidity of the summer months, your skin churns out excessive amounts of oil which further results in clogged skin pores. Also the sun rays damage the skin and make it appear dull and greasy. However, with regular exfoliation you can remove the layer of dead skin cells from your skin surface and remove the impurities accumulated within the skin pores. Avoid using harsh scrubs. Even if you have oily and acne prone skin, use a mild scrub that contains smooth and rounded particles that exfoliate without irritating the skin. For example Nia 24 Physical Cleansing Scrub. Don't Avoid using Sunscreen

Just because the temperatures tends to cool down during fall and the sun is not as strong as in the summer, doesn't mean you can skip using sunscreens. Even if the sun is not as harsh, its UV rays continue to reach your skin and that's why it is important to keep your skin protected. An SPF 15 sunscreen would be more than enough for the fall season. However, if you intend to spend lots of time outside, you need at least an SPF 30 sunscreen. La Roche Posay has a full range of sunscreen formulations for all skin types. Reduce Skin Discoloration

Skin care has always been a serious concern with women. And because of their increased concern about skin care, myths and misconceptions don't take long to spread. And often these myths are so deep rooted, that they are believed to be true and handed down from generation to generation.

Most of the time women tend to follow these misconceptions so religiously that they end up doing more harm to their skin than good. Here are some of the popular skin care myths that can potentially wreck havoc on your skin.

Myth 1 – Sunscreen should not be applied very often!

Since sunscreen lotions and creams are generally richer formulations, people tend to believe that over-applying sunscreens would make their skin greasy and oily. Moreover, they also think that excessive chemicals contained in the sunscreen would be bad for the skin. This is not true however.

Sunscreens should be applied as often as possible – three to four times minimum through the day. This is because even though you slather on ample amounts of sunscreen before venturing out, it wouldn't guarantee continued protection against the ultraviolet rays unless it stays on. In order to ensure continued protection against sun damage, it is important to make sure that the sunscreen stays on your skin. This is why it is important to apply it as often as possible especially if you have been swimming, exercising or generally sweating a lot. best oil control moisturizer (with spf if possible) for very oily acne prone skin.?

currently im using la roche posay active matt moisturizer (been about a month now) as i have heard good reviews about the oil control, and the pharmacist recommended it to me. Unfortunately my skin (T-zone especially) still gets very oily, very quickly. The pharmacist said that it should last all day, but when i check in about an hour using a blot paper, i find my forehead and nose super oily!

The oil control wasn't what i expected =(

I also tried vichy for men to reduce oil production and sebum, it still doesn't work.

I tried many others as well, like neutrogena and other cosmetics, they don't work.

Is there something wrong with my skin? Is it too oily that the products can't handle it? La roche posay works wonders on my friend who has very oily skin like I do, but at the end of the day my skin is still very oily and not matt like it said it would =(

What face wash should I use?

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash broke me out.

Cetaphil made my face oilier.

Regular Soap broke me out.

La Roche Posay Biomedic AntiBac Acne Wash has not helped me with my breakouts.

Can anyone please tell me if there is a face wash that I can use that will reduce my acne on my face and prevent whiteheads from appearing?

You should use differin, some moisturizers break my skin even more and make my face oily. If you use 2 times a day for 6 weeks you will get your results but before no if you go to the dermatologist he will give you a gel just for you to make your face more clearer.
