For ages, men have this assumption that skin care is meant only for ladies. Men taking care of their looks were generally regarded girlish. Usually when in need, they just borrowed or stole cleanser or moisturizer from the fairer sex. However, recently there has been a significant shift in mens attitude towards skin care in general and facial skin care in particular. Taking the cue, the cosmetic companies have flushed the market with a large number of products exclusively for men. There are compelling reasons too. The men folk have to remain outdoors for long durations, carry out onerous physical activities and sweat a lot. These take their toll on skin and hair and need to be addressed. The following few tips form part of man skin care and will aid a man to have healthy skin, hair and an overall good appearance.
Man skin care is not time consuming and will take only a few minutes of time daily. Washing the face with mild soap and rinsing with cold water will do for starters. However, deodorants of strong soaps should be avoided. Cleansing the face once or twice a week with a good cleanser also adds to man skin care. In case one is expected to stay outdoors for a long duration a sunscreen, containing aloe and moisturizers, will be a good option. A little care while shaving is also a good man skin care tactic. Coating the face with hot water before applying shaving cream, using a sharp double-edged blade and rinsing with cold water post-shave are also helpful. Instead of liquid, after-shave cream is a better option. People who use an electric razor should apply pre-shave lotion which will allow whiskers to stand up and will also make gliding the razor smooth. This is also helpful to the burns and irritations which occur with electric razor.
Balanced diet, consisting of fruits and vegetables containing multiple anti-oxidants, checks skin damage. A multi-vitamin, rich in anti-oxidants and vitamin E, will also supplement. Fast food and fat should be avoided. An important factor in man skin care is exercise which clears the pores and increases the metabolism. The resultant sweating also helps cleanse the inner body.
Sufficient intake of water is one of the cheapest and most affective ways for the man skin care as it keeps the entire body hydrated. De-hydrating beverages like coffee, soda or alcohol, if at all taken, should be in limited quantity. These tips may not work wonders or have miraculous effects but, in long term, will give a young and healthy appearance to a mans skin, making him self-confident and attractive to the opposite gender.
