Cosmetology is a science pertaining to treatment of skin, hair and nails. Normally women preferred this treatment, however, of late; number of men receiving this treatment is also growing. In these surface layer of skin is removed by sanding. Cosmetologist carry out general ex-foliation, however, for special cases services of specialized clinics and professional dermatologists will be needed.
It may also be noted that a cosmetologist is different from a beauty therapist. A beauty therapists works involve with beautician or aestheticians work, physiatrist or body therapy work, electrology works or electrolysis. On Commission: In this case the skin care and cosmetology salon provides for overhead expenses and the cosmetologist is paid a percentage out of the amount received on account of services provided. The commission earned by the cosmetologist is tax-deductible.
By Taking Booths On Rent: Under this arrangement the cosmetologist takes a space in the skin care and cosmetology salon on rent. The expenditure on account of products is borne by the cosmetologist and he is also taxed on his earnings.
On hourly wage: The cosmetologist is employed on hourly wage basis. To keep control on type of products used by the cosmetologist, a large number of establishments prefer this.
The cosmetologists also earn a significant amount through tips from customers. Mostly the administration and sanitation procedures, followed by a skin care and cosmetology salon, are governed by the concerned health department and, where applicable, by a Board of Cosmetology. Grievances from service-recipients are also investigated and disposed off by these institutions.
