Is this some form of abuse I suffered?

i am 23 male..at 8 years of age,i was once beaten up by my dad with a stick for refusing to join them for prayers..as it was a daily evening ritual in our catholic household....as a kid,i obviously didn't really care/understand such " spiritual "stuff......do u think "i was disciplined for disobedience" or "i was abused by an immature man" ?..Of course,now i am staying away and turned a freethinker,never been happier...but wat u guys think really happened?..

whatever the reason that's a pretty harsh punishment, you should really talk to your dad about it, especially if it was an isolated incident.
