My wife's face skin turns rough in the US..?

Her usual smooth face turned rough after arriving in the U.S. When she was living in China (a pretty dry area of the country) her face was very smooth. However after arriving to the States last July, her face gradually turned rough. She has no idea why this is happening as she religiously took care of her skin by applying plethora of skin products from skin lotions, the face washes, and recently bought the Turnaround Concentrate form Clinique. However nothing seems to help at this moment, and we are just baffled.

We live in Houston,Texas a fairly humid part of the country.

before anything else, get a check up from yr doctor to make sure ther is no underlying illness - some show first on one's skin.
then:

1) drink purified water (filtered is fine)

2) thoroughly wash all fruit and vegs - use one of the now-available soaps that remove pesticide residues etc. - and eat organic meats.

3) use the very mildest skin soap you can find and then only briefly every 2 - 3 days. at other times just splash water over the face. most americans are obsessed by cleanliness and use way too much of everything on their skin. always dab, never rub, dry.

4) remove ALL skin products, including clinique.

5) remove pop, deep fried food, snacks, etc. she has been eating since arriving here.

6) remove as many synthetics from yr environment as possible. also feathers etc. if they cause any irritation.

7) for now, double wash everything that comes in contact with her face (bedding esp.) first with mild soap (ivory or some organic) then a complete cycle just with warm water.

air dry if possible.

once her skin has recuperated, introduce products only ONE at a time; anything that causes a reaction goes out, permanently. unfortunately your wife has gone from a relatively mild environment into a concentrated and relatively toxic one (in terms of the damage it is doing to her).
