How do you know if you have Acne or Acne Scars?

Hey i thought i had Acne but i'm not sure.
This may sound stupid but am not sure if i have just Acne (spots) or actual Acne scars, i don't squeeze my spots unless they about to go most of the time.

Can people describe Acne Scars to me.

acne is like an actual spot but im pretty sure everyone ive seen with an acne scar it is like a crater (dont know how else to explain it lol) in their skin. =D
